A note from Dana Gache
It’s often said that successful businesses solve a problem in such a way that it adds value to the customer. After reading my story, you’ll see this is most certainly the case in my launching Dekken Building Solutions.

In 2007 our family moved into a home with a newly finished wooden, elevated pool deck. The pool quickly became a favorite gathering place for friends and family, yet within a short period of time the deck boards began to crack and splinter. We were compelled to replace all the wood and treat it with a product guaranteed to minimize such deterioration. But to our dismay, not only did the product not extend the life of the deck boards, but it made them slippery and unsafe—especially for all the kids enjoying the pool.

Hence, after just a few years we were faced with replacing deck boards a second time. Our contractor recommended a different warrantied product which we applied…yet our problem was not solved. The re-treatment failed, and we were looking at another urgent need to replace our deck. There had to be a better solution.

I had always wanted to have a long-lasting, hassle-free tile, concrete or travertine pool deck but couldn’t use those products on an elevated joist system. What’s more, proposals for backfilling around the pool, pouring concrete, or replacing deck boards with composite wood were expensive and each came with its own set of pros…and troubling cons! After months of research (and trial and error), I discovered that FRP—Fiber Reinforced Polymer—was the long-lasting, beautiful solution I was looking for. Due to its strength, durability, and versatility FRP allowed us to create a pool deck of elegant Italian tile with a structure that will not need replacing in our lifetime. Plus, it’s corrosion-free!

Despite the superiority of this innovative building material commonly used in commercial and industrial projects, I was surprised when I couldn’t find a company that specialized in designing, sourcing, and building residential outdoor spaces with FRP.
​
So, I started Dekken Building Solutions. While Dekken launched with building decks, the residential building applications for FRP are numerous and expanding.
​
I’m confident we can help you design and build your dream deck, boathouse, boat dock, gazebo and/or other project that can just about last a lifetime.
