FRP Building Solutions for Residential Projects
Our Process
Our end-to-end process is designed to ensure that our customers receive the best possible results. We begin with a detailed design phase, followed by sourcing the FRP materials for your project. Your plans will be engineered to the proper specifications and onsite training and further consulting can be provided to your builder. Dekken can also recommend affiliated contractors in many markets who are experienced in FRP construction.

Design
Our process starts with your vision and ideas for how you want your outdoor space to look. Our design team begins with your finished product in mind and then works with architects and/or FRP-experienced engineers to create code-compliant plans to accomplish your goals.
When you call a typical deck company, you will be contacted by a salesperson who will show you their product and give you a quote. When you contact Dekken, a representative from our design team will reach out and ask what you want your deck to look like when you step outside. For example, you will first be asked to select the material you want on the top of your deck such as, slate, Italian tile, travertine, decorative concrete pavestone, composite wood, pavers, and (if you force us) even wood. If tiles, do you want grout or thinly separated tiles for drainage? We then discuss railing options to incorporate into the design plans.
Our design team will work with you to provide a durable, long-lasting, low maintenance and safe structure to support and install whatever top decking material you choose.

Engineering
Next, our design team will work with experienced FRP engineers to produce building code compliant building plans.
Since its invention in the 1930’s, FRP has become a mainstay in various commercial applications such as oil rigs, walkways, and cell towers. Dekken recognizes the same advantages FRP offers in commercial applications can be greatly effective and economical in residential applications as well.

We are fortunate to work with experts with decades of experience working with FRP products. Based on the weight, functionality, and needs of your top decking materials, our design team provides the necessary specifications to the FRP-experienced engineers to create a supporting frame using our FRP structural profiles. Your plans are created to, at a minimum, meet current international building code standards for FRP structures.
We work with engineers who produce certified plans in all 50 states, so your builder can easily obtain the permits they need to build your dream space.

Materials
Dekken takes care of the hassle of purchasing and pre-fabricating the necessary FRP structural building products needed according to your engineering plans, all at competitive prices for you. Best of all, your materials are delivered to your job-site in a kit-like fashion that requires minimal onsite cutting and drilling, allowing for a more efficient and economical construction of your project.

Why FRP? Given FRP's superior and long-lasting qualities, FRP can be cost competitive over the life of the project. In fact, there are often long-term savings when compared to other building materials.
In addition to the FRP materials, our design team will also work to source your selected top decking material (whether it be tile, natural stone, or composite wood…) and railings.

Construction
Once Dekken has designed your building project, obtained your certified engineering plans for permitting and sourced the pre-fabricated FRP for your project, we can also provide your builder with the training and ongoing consulting it needs to make your dream a reality.
Although working with FRP is not difficult with experience, it is different than working with wood. That’s why Dekken is available to provide your builder with training and consulting as needed, so that the structural integrity and durability of your project is maintained. Dekken can also recommend affiliated contractors in many markets who are experienced in FRP construction.
